Étymologie :

Du grec di : deux fois,

et phasis : phase ou apparence.

L’origine de cette dénomination n’est pas claire.

Peut être une allusion aux aspects différents que revêtent

les tiges (dressées dans le bas puis obliques en se ramifiant)

ou encore à la présence de 2 types de feuilles

(ventrales/dorsales et latérales) au même niveau d’un rameau.
